The film tells about Geghard Monastery, which was included in UNESCO World Heritage list in 2000.

The gorgeous monastery, built on the Goght tributary of the river Azat, was initially called Ayrivank, meaning "the Monastery of the Cave’' due to numerous caves, but from XIII century it was also called Geghard, meaning "the Monastery of the Spear" in honor of the Holy spear kept in the monastery for over 500 years. According to tradition the Geghard Monastery was founded by Gregory the Illuminator at the beginning of the 4th century on the place of a pagan sanctuary.
